 La vallée de la Valmont
A valley steeped in harmony
Further inland from the area where the River Valmont rises are traces of deer and wild boar in Sorquainville, Riville, Thietreville, Thiergeville, Valmont etc. Numerous small lakes are dotted across the valley and there is an abundance of wild flowers e.g. horse mint, woodland angelica and meadowsweet. In addition to mallards and moorhens, it is not unusual to spot herons and
cormorants.
The river runs through a delightful lush wooded valley. The village of Colleville still has its old sugar beet refinery. Fishing lakes are suitable for all, young and old, individual visitors and groups. They provide pleasant surroundings in which to relax and anglers are almost guaranteed of success.
Take-aways available. Nearby, “Les Calètes” aresmall chalets offering gîte accommodation with breathtaking views of the valley. The “Truite Cauchoise” association also provides access to this particularly well-stocked fishing river. In days gone by, 9 wheat and oil mills (linseed, canola) stood on the banks of the Valmont. Now the river flows through meadows on its way to Fécamp where it runs into the sea.
